The Race Begins

With the 2020 election approaching many Republicans are tossing their hats in the ring to have the chance to represent Iowan's in Washington DC.

This election cycle has seen many people looking for the opportunity to represent Iowa on the national stage. With the news of Congressman Dave Loebsack’s retirement, all four districts are up for grabs.



District 1


State Representative Ashley Hinson looks to serve as the voice for Iowa's first congressional district. Representative Hinson represents the 67th District, she has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2017. Hinson is a graduate of Valley High School in West Des Moines from there she attended the University of Southern California. Where she studied broadcast journalism. Before serving in the Iowa legislature she was a former anchor for KCRG-TV9.





District 2


Thomas Kedley has declared himself a candidate for the second district . He is currently an educator at Clinton High school.






District 3


After a narrow defeat in the third districts congressional race former congressman David Young is making another run for the house. He's being challenged by current state senator Zach Nunn. David Young attended Drake University in Des Moines Iowa. He served as chief of staff to Iowa Republican senator Chuck Grassley. He served two terms in the House of Representatives until 2018 where he lost reelection to Cindy Axne. Zach Nunn was a member of the Iowa house from 2015-2019 and he is currently serving his first term in the Iowa senate.

District 4


In the fourth district current Congressman Steve King is facing a primary challenger from state senator Randy Feenstra and tow other Republicans.


Feenstra received a bachelor's degree from Dordt College and a MPA from Iowa State University. Feenstra was elected in 2008 to the Iowa Senate, where he is currently serving his third consecutive term.
